Google Home is a great entry point to the smart speaker market. In terms of functionality, it has already outperformed Amazon Echo. Although it has some issues, the Google Home is a complete device that offers many great features.
Google Home Original (about $130). This speaker has been a great value. It is a viable alternative to Amazon Echo. The Google Home also features an interesting feature, which allows you to stream audio from your phone over WiFi.
It has a large song list, which allows it to play nearly any song available from YouTube Music and Google Play Music. You can also stream audio from connected devices to your Google Home via Google Cast compatibility.
Sound Quality
The 2-inch driver and dual 2-inch passive radiations provide excellent stereo imaging and punchy bass. It fills bedrooms and kitchens with sound, which is surprising for such a small speaker.
This is not all that the speaker can do. There are many other features you can access through the app. You can turn off the microphone if you don't need it to hear you voice. Additionally, you can group devices together so that they can all be controlled by one voice command.
You can also adjust the bass and treble with an audio equalizer. This isn’t the most complex equalizer we’ve seen but it does a decent job at adjusting for different situations and rooms.
This is especially important when you are using ambient music or background music. You can adjust the volume and change the settings without having to adjust each track individually. It can adjust the volume of spoken word content to a more natural setting, which is great for podcasts or audiobooks.
Sound quality: This is a major improvement over the original Google Home. It also sounds better than most smart speakers. It's balanced in the middle and has good low-end detail.
However, higher-pitched instruments and vocals can sometimes sound a bit dull. It's difficult to hear the full impact of high notes unless the volume is very high. While the treble may not be as smooth as some speakers, it is not harsh.
The speaker comes with a microphone which picks up the voice quite well. It also has an app that allows you to adjust the volume and treble. The speaker also features "ambient intelligence", which adjusts the volume according to the environment.
Voice Recognition:
Although it doesn't have the same accuracy as Alexa or Google Assistants, it can still understand your words. It can answer queries about traffic, weather and sports. You can also get your calendar read out by it.
